The Florida Panthers

Team Preview!

Panthers NHL

The Panthers Game 1 loss was a real shocker to a lot of people, especially since they were up by a goal heading into both the second and third periods—they hadn't lost a playoff game in that situation under coach Paul Maurice in 31 straight tries! Even with Sam Bennett racking up two goals and Brad Marchand adding another, plus Carter Verhaeghe and Nate Schmidt dishing out assists, it wasn't enough. And while Sergei Bobrovsky made a ton of saves (42!), he's been a little shaky in his last two games, letting in seven goals. Can Bob and the Panthers bounce back?

The Edmonton Oilers

Team Preview!

Oilers NHL

The Edmonton Oilers kicked off Game 1 with a bang, with Leon Draisaitl scoring just over a minute in and then sealing the deal with the overtime winner! Mattias Ekholm and Kasperi Kapanen also lit the lamp, while playoff scoring leaders Connor McDavid and Draisaitl each grabbed two assists. The Oilers have a knack for comebacks, leading the league with seven postseason comeback wins and four in the third period. Plus, history is on their side: teams that win Game 1 typically go on to win the Stanley Cup 76.5% of the time, including the last four years. And for those worried about goalie Stuart Skinner, he definitely showed up in Game 1 with 29 saves, continuing his hot streak of five straight wins where he's only allowed eight goals on 137 shots! Can the Oilers keep the momentum?

The Panthers vs. Oilers

Game 2 Prediction!

Prediction: PANTHERS +110

Here's the deal, the Panthers killer defense and deep roster are looking like a real problem for the Oilers. While Edmonton can definitely light up the scoreboard, their even-strength struggles and the fact that Skinner needs to be absolutely perfect could hold them back. Even though these teams tend to combine for around 6.2 goals per game, and both have gone over 6.5 goals in a good chunk of their matchups this season (the Oilers in 46 games and the Panthers in 41), we think Florida's solid all-around game gives them the edge here. We're predicting the Panthers take this one!
