The Cincinnati Preview

We just seen this Cincinnati team move to 11-2 after beating up on Evansville at home, (76-58). The Bearcats had a massive second half comeback in that game and I'm sure they’ll look for a cleaner effort here in Provo. Cincinnati is scoring 82 points per game, on 45.7% shooting, while allowing 74 points per game on defense. They can't afford to play weak defense here or they could be in big trouble!
Cincinnati Team Notes
Junior forward Viktor Lakhin has flirted with double-doubles in back-to-back games, scored and he leads Cincy in scoring (13.6) and rebounding (8.5).
Veteran guard Day Day Thomas has reached double figures in four of the last six games, and he’s up to 11.4 ppg.
Sophomore guard Dan Skillings Jr.poured in a season-high 29 points in the win over Stetson, and he’s averaging 11.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg.
The BYU Preview
( Pic - NCAA.com )
This BYU program has had a great season so far and now jumped to 12-1 after man handling the Wyoming Cowboys at home, (94-68) in their last game. The Cougars knocked off another big Mountain West rival, and they’ll now look to open their new year in the Big 12 with a statement! This BYU team is scoring 90 points per game, on 49.2% shooting and only allowing 60 points per game. They have been very impressive this year and could make light work out of this Cincy team tonight!
BYU Team Notes
Senior guard Jaxson Robinson has been quiet since a 28-point outing versus Denver, but he still leads BYU in scoring (16.0).
Veteran forward Noah Waterman grabbed a season-high 14 boards in the Denver victory, and he’s averaging 11.8 ppg and a team-leading 6.6 rpg.
Experienced leader Spencer Johnsondouble-doubled in the Holy War defeat to Utah, and he’s averaging a solid line of 10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and a team-leading 4.6 apg.
Junior guard Trevin Knell has knocked down a trio of triples in three straight games, and he’s tied for second on the team at 11.8 ppg.
The Plugs Game Prediction
💎 BYU COUGARS -8.5 -110
Cincinnati did exactly what they were supposed to do during their non-conference schedule, but when you look at their wins, then notice their two losses, you see a 11-2 team that capitalized on a light and weak schedule! We know that the Big 12 is new to both schools here, but it might just hit the Bearcats right it hurts and bring them back to reality finally, espically with this being the first leg of three straight ranked matchups for this Cincy team. I do think we have to watch this game close tonight, if we will continue to bet the Big 12 or Cincy this season because surely we will learn more about this squad from this game then we have all year so far. BYU has handled business all season, now walking into their conference with Power 6 wins over Arizona State and N.C. State, along with another victory over perennial contender San Diego State, so I like their chances here against Cincy who is a bit over rated in my eyes. All but one of BYU’s wins (SDSU by 9) have come by double digits, so let’s back this BYU team and see if they can bring the same energy to Big 12 play that they have to start the Season!
