The Edmonton Oilers head back on the ROAD to Sunrise, Florida to face off against the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals!
Betting Odds: EDM (+115) FLA (-135) O/U 5.5
How cool would it be to see a 3-0 comeback from the Edmonton Oilers, am I right? I mean come on! If you have been reading these articles from me throughout the playoffs or following along with me on Twitter, you would know how much I hate the Florida Panthers and the way they play. Specifically, Sam Bennett. This guy is just so obnoxious and does not play good hockey but rather, dirty hockey. No team has ever done what the Edmonton Oilers have in their quest for the Cup.
Stanley Cup Finals Game 4 Recap
Edmonton came out with the pedal to the metal in game four at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The Oilers scored the first two goals before Vladimir Tarasenko came and cut the lead in half just three minutes after Edmonton's Adam Henrique made it a 2-0 game. Going into the first intermission in what felt like 30 minutes, the Oilers led 3-1. The 2nd period is where the floodgates started to open up and the game got out of grasp for the Florida Panthers. After the 5th goal, Florida head coach Paul Maurice threw in the towel and pulled Sergei Bobrovsky from between the pipes. The Edmonton Oilers continued to hold down the throttle and potted in another two goals to send the final score to 8-1. It was a complete dominance from this Edmonton team and was a big momentum shift for this team. All year the bottom six forwards have been very cold for this Oilers team and have relied too heavily on Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the top dogs. That changed in game 5 where three bottoms 6 forwards scored and even defenseman Darnell Nurse potted one into the back of the net. I was very impressed with what the Edmonton Oilers accomplished the question is if they can find continued momentum in Sunrise on the road.
Captain Connor McDavid SHOWED Up
Big performances from big players in big games. That is what wins championships - in this case, extends championships. There is no one better in the National Hockey League than Connor McDavid, no doubt about it. Connor has progressively gotten better in each game of the Stanley Cup Finals. After going pointless in game 1 - McDavid gathered 1 point, 2 points, then 4 points in the most recent game 4. Despite only 2 SOG in GM4, McDavid continued to show his playmaking abilities on the offensive end with three assists (1 Goal). With this 3 assist performance, McDavid broke the single post-season ASSIST record! Impressive accolade for the 27-year-old young gun. Captain Connor McDavid stayed very poised and humble in a post-game interview about the game 5 game plan: "It's just one win, that's all it is. Doesn't matter if you score 8 or you score 1; it's just 1 win. Got to go to Florida do a job and drag them back to Alberta." I really like where this Edmonton Oilers team is mentally going into game 5 coming off an electric win and Connor McDavid finally finding his stride.

Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers Game 5 Prediction:
ChaseTheLock Prediction: Over 5.5 (-105) 1.05u
ChaseTheLock Record: 4-5-1 (-1.6u)
After a 8-1 victory this may seem like a trap to take the over... However, this over-under has been hovering at this line all series since game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Both games in Sunrise (1&2) went under. The two games in Alberta were a different story soaring over. 4-3, 8-1. 16 goals in two games? Why not an over? Both of these teams are starting to open up the game offensively and it makes sense considering the season's on the line every single game from here on out. With this offense, comes defensive breakdowns and odd-man rushes which have proved to lead to goals all playoffs long for both sides. Both teams get penalized often and are starting to open up and facilitate their powerplays. Florida's powerplay has not been all that great either defensively allowing a shorthanded goal in game four which is what started the scoring for both sides. I am going to go out on a limb and think there will be some negative regression for Stuart Skinner - and positive progression for Sergei Bobrovsky, let me see a 3-3 regulation, Edmonton in OT.
