Houston Rockets Preview

The Rockets tumbled to their lowest-scoring game since March 2021 in a Game 1 loss that revealed some offensive rust — especially outside of Alperen Sengun’s individual brilliance (26 points, 9 rebounds). After a concerted opening to the game, the Rockets quickly had their rhythm lost them, and Golden State was able to run away with the second quarter and not look back.
With Ime Udoka’s crew back in its building and under the pressure of early playoff elimination, look for a far more vigorous and energized effort. Sengun requires support with the scoring, so Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green will need to step up, but the return from injury of Jabari Smith Jr. gives them added size in the frontcourt.
Probable Starters: VanVleet, Green; Thompson, Brooks; Sengun
Golden State Warriors Preview

Having fought their way through the Play-In to this stage, Golden State followed their Game 1 blueprint to perfection, relying heavily on the lethal 1-2 punch of Stephen Curry (31 points) and Jimmy Butler (25 points, 5 steals). They also hit double the number of three-pointers of Houston, a significant factor in the victory.
The Warriors’ current seven-game win streak on the road works in their favor, and Steve Kerr’s squad will try to keep ride the momentum of a playoff-expereinced core and floor spacing offense.
Probable Starters: Curry, Moody; Podziemski, Butler; Green
Key Stats
Won 7 straight road games ( franchise record encryption )

Player Props
Alperen Sengun Over 22.5 Points: Sengun had a great playoff debut, so look for him to do it all over again with more touches at home.
Stephen Curry Over 3.5 Three-Pointers Made: Curry’s long-range threat continues to be important, and with 5 threes in Game 1, the over appears worth taking.
Final Prediction
Fueled by home fans and a greater incentive to tie the series, the Houston Rockets are favored over the Los Angeles Lakers by at least 6 points in Game 2. Expect Sengun to dominate the paint again, and the supporting cast to finally step up.
Prediction: Rockets 108, Warriors 100
