AFC South Team Previews & Future Predictions.
Houston Texans -120 | 2023 Record: 10-7
| 2024 Prediction:( 12-5 ) Over 9.5 season wins -140
2023-24 AFC South Position in 2023-24: 1st (10-7)
Key Players In: Stefon Diggs (WR), Danielle Hunter (DE), Denico Autry (DE), Joe Mixon (RB)
Key Players Out: Blake Cashman (LB), Kareem Jackson (S), Devin Singletary (RB), Maliek Collins (DT), Sheldon Rankins (DT)
Head Coach: DeMeco Ryans
The Texans lead the division with CJ Stroud emerging as a possible MVP contender, supported by a solid roster featuring top wide receivers and standout players on the defensive line. Although their secondary may have some weaknesses following Derek Stingley Jr.'s departure, their pass rush is expected to make up for it. While injuries are a potential worry, this is a common issue for all teams. Given their offseason moves, the Texans are looking for much more than an AFC South title. Also, Stroud should have a healthier offensive line. The Super Bowl is questionable, but winning the division is well within reach. The Texans odds to win the AFC South are reasonable at -120!
Jacksonville Jaguars | 2023 Record: 9-8
| 2024 Prediction:( 9-8 )Receive Wild Card Seed +450
AFC South Position 2023-24: 2nd (9-8)
Key Players In: Arik Armstead (DT), Gabe Davis (WR), Darnell Savage (S), Ronald Darby (CB)
Key Players Out: Calvin Ridley (WR), Zay Jones (WR), Darious Williams (CB), Rayshawn Jenkins (S)
Head Coach: Doug Pederson
Entering last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars had high hopes of clinching the AFC South title. Despite being the top choice among bettors, the Jaguars fell short with a 9-8 record. While they stayed competitive until the end, a string of five losses in their final six games proved insurmountable.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be under close scrutiny this season. Despite being chosen as the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and showing glimpses of his potential, his inconsistency is a worrisome factor. Jacksonville hired defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen to replace Mike Caldwell, which is a significant enough upgrade, and free-agent addition Arik Armstead will boost the defense.
Although the Jaguars offense looks strong, the defense needs major improvement. They may not have enough in their locker to beat the Texans for top spot, but a wildcard or playoff spot is certainly there!

Indianapolis Colts | 2023 Record: 9-8
| 2024 Prediction:( 7-10 ) Under 8.5 Season Wins -125
AFC South Position in 2023-24: 3rd (9-8)
Key Players In: Raekown Davis (DT), Joe Flacco (QB), Adonai Mitchell (WR)
Key Players Out: Gardner Minshew (QB), Zack Moss (RB), Jake Martin (DE)
Head Coach: Shane Steichen
Despite quarterback Anthony Richardson's injury last year, the Indianapolis Colts managed to turn a difficult situation into a positive outcome. Stroud and Richardson, the No. 2 and No. 4 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, were poised for an intense competition.
Despite that, Richardson was limited to just four games due to a season-ending injury to his throwing shoulder. The versatile quarterback, who excelled in both passing and running, seemed to be the perfect choice at the fourth overall pick before his promising career took a sudden turn.
Richardson's success will heavily rely on the health of Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor, who played only ten games last season. Although Zach Moss had a standout season, he has departed from the Colts' backfield. The absence of a reliable backup means that any injury to Taylor could place additional pressure on the young quarterback, possibly resulting in a challenging season.
Tennessee Titans | 2023 Record: 6-11
| 2024 Prediction:( 5-12 )Fewest Season Wins
+800( Cash Out )
AFC South Position in 2023-24: 4th (6-11)
Key Players In: Calvin Ridley (WR), Lloyd Cushenberry (C), Kenneth Murray Jr. (LB), Tony Pollard (RB), Chidobe Awuzie (CB)
Key Players Out: Ryan Tannehill (QB), Derrick Henry (RB), Denico Autry (DT)
Head Coach: Brian Callahan
The Tennessee Titans will feature a different look in 2024-25! Ryan Tannehill and bell-cow running back Derrick Henry are both out in Tennessee. The former remains a free agent, while Henry inked a two-year, $16 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
Moreover, they bolstered their defense by adding cornerback L'Jarius Sneed from the Chiefs and securing him with a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension. Equipped with these fresh assets, Levis could be on the verge of a breakthrough season, yet there are valid concerns that the second-year quarterback must address this year, especially after finishing last in pass completion rates in the previous season.
It is anticipated that their defense will be in disarray as well. The absence of Autry is a major blow, considering he has been a cornerstone of the Titans' defensive line for many years and was the team's leader in sacks last season. Overall, it looks like the Titans could face a challenging season under Brian Callahan.
