In a game where the Las Vegas Aces struggled from the very beginning, it quickly became apparent that it was going to be a long night. The first quarter, both offensively and defensively, was possibly one of the worst the Aces have had this season. Despite A’ja Wilson's dominant performance, finishing with 29 points and 11 rebounds, it wasn't enough as the Aces ultimately fell to the Seattle Storm 78-65 at home. Throughout the game, the Aces had no answers for Seattle’s high-powered offense and formidable defense.

The Storm set the tone early and maintained their momentum throughout. Jewell Loyd led the charge for Seattle, finishing with a team-high 25 points and 9 rebounds, while Skylar Diggins-Smith also had a significant impact, contributing with21 points and 7 assists.

As she continues her dominat play, A’ja Wilson has now recorded double-doubles and 20 plus point, 10 plus rebound performances in seven of the Aces’ eight games this season. She now currently leads the WNBA in scoring with an average of 28 points per game. If she maintains this pace, she would set a new league record for scoring average in a season. However, Wilson cannot be the sole dominant player for the Aces. Head coach Becky Hammon is still adjusting her lineup as star point guard Chelsea Gray recovers from injury. While the team clearly misses Gray, they must find other ways to remain competitive in an increasingly strong league.

With this loss, the Aces fall to 5-3 on the season and 1-1 in Commissioner’s Cup standings. They now head back on the road to face the Los Angeles Sparks in another Commissioner’s Cup battle on Sunday night. The key question is whether the Aces can figure out how to play a full 40 minutes of complete basketball and turn their season around.
