Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox Recent Performance
Exactly 7 games have passed since Atlanta Braves Superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. went down with a torn ACL on May 26th against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This was a huge blow to the Atlanta Braves roster and their early struggles compared to how the juggernaut they have been for the past couple of seasons. In the past 7 games, the Atlanta Braves are 3-4 and dropped three out of four to the Washington Nationals and 1-3 to the Oakland Athletics, both at home. The offensive struggles have crept up on the Atlanta Braves without Acuna... This season the Atlanta Braves have the 8th-best batting average hitting .250. However, in the last 7 days (6 games) they have the 21st-ranked offense only batting .232 in this span. On the other side of things - we have the Boston Red Sox who this season have dealt with a string of injuries between pitcher Garrett Whitlock and long-term injuries to Masataka Yoshida, Tristan Casas, and Trevor Story... This season has already done a lot of wear and tear for the Red Sox. The Sox will also be without Vaughn Grissom and Tyler O'Neill tomorrow as they are dealing with injuries as well. Despite all these injuries and what was already a rebuilding year, the Red Sox have found themselves fighting up and down on the .500 PCT ridge. In the last week, the Red Sox are 3-4 as well dropping 2-3 games to the Baltimore Orioles @ Camden Yards and then splitting a four-game series with the Detroit Tigers @ Fenway Park.
ATL/BOS Pitching Preview
No doubt about it, these two pitchers are some of the best in the Major Leagues so far this season. We have a Southpaw from Santa Monica, CA on the bump for the Braves in Max Fried. Max Fried has some incredible statistics according to Baseball Savant so let's dive in. Fried is in the 99th percentile for both AVG EV: 84.0mph and GB%: 63.2. Hitters struggle to hit it hard against Fried and when they do - it is usually a ground ball! Max Fried also has tremendous numbers when it comes to Hard-Hit%: 28.6 (95th Percentile) and Barrel%: 4.3 (86th Percentile). Max Fried this season is boasting a 2.97 ERA and a WHIP of 1.05 which is 21st in the MLB. Fried is in for a treat tonight with 2 GREAT splits: 2.63 ERA on the ROAD (3.51 Home), and 2.30 ERA in NIGHT games (4.58 in DAY games). On the other hand? Fried allows righties to only hit .144 in 187 batters faced while on the other end, lefties are smoking him for .423 in 52 batters faced... The Red Sox, however? Projected to have five LHBs in the lineup... Could we see some offensive fireworks in Fenway? On the other side of the ball, we have the right-hander from Okeechobee, FL, Kutter Crawford. If you have been following Major League Baseball, you would know that Kutter Crawford was quite impressive to start the season. In April, Kutter gathered a 1.65 ERA in 5 impressive starts. The month of May was quite a different story for the kid as he struggled with a 5.14 ERA on 6 starts. His stock has been on a slow decline which is important to note. Luckily, Kutter has a good history against this Atlanta Braves roster. In 23 plate appearances against ATL, the Braves hit .200 and had a xwOBA of .273. Kutter has interesting splits for Tuesday's matchup with a HOME ERA of 3.97 (2.62 AWAY), 3.81 NIGHT (0.77 DAY), and is allowing RHB to bat .268 while LHB are batting .194. Max Fried has been on the INCLINE, while Kutter Crawford has been on the DECLINE!

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox 6/4/24 Prediction:
ChaseTheLock Prediction: ATL Braves -1.5 (-105) 1.05u
ChaseTheLock Record: 3-3 (-0.25u)
Despite being a Boston-based sports fan, I have to get past that and realize that the Boston Red Sox are not in a good spot when it comes to their series opener vs. the Braves. Their lineup is pretty poverty at the moment besides the few bright spots with Rafael Devers and young rookie Wilyer Abreu. In the last 15 games, the Boston Red Sox have the 27th-ranked wRC+ and the 24th-ranked OBP against LHP. On the other side, the Atlanta Braves have the 14th-ranked wRC+ and 18th-ranked OBP vs. RHP. Both teams have not been great but I am taking the ideal matchup of the Atlanta Braves who are simply rolling out a lot better of a lineup. The only concerns for me from the Boston Red Sox lineup are from utility player Rob Refsnyder and catcher Connor Wong. This could backfire with Max Fried's struggles against lefties but there is just no way I see this team putting up a fight with the way that the Red Sox have struggled.
