The New York Giants

Team Preview

NY Giants NFL

In the upcoming 2024 season, the New York Giants aim to recover from a disappointing 2023, where they ended with a 6-11 record and couldn't capitalize on their playoff appearance in 2022. This season will be the first for the Giants without Saquon Barkley, who joined the Eagles after being on the team since 2017. Daniel Jones has faced challenges throughout his NFL career, but the Giants are now focusing on supporting their quarterback by strengthening the offensive line and selecting Malik Nabers from LSU as their primary wide receiver. Nabers will join a receiving corps that includes Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and Darius Slayton, with early indications suggesting that Nabers is going to stand out among them.

With the assistance provided, any doubts about the Unity of the Giants’ O-Line are going to be put to rest quickly. Devin Singletary's potential to maintain his A1 performance from Houston last season as the Giants new lead back is promising. On the defensive end, the Giants are strategically filling gaps, notably by acquiring Brian Burns through a trade to bolster the pass rush alongside guys like Kayvon Thibodeaux, who had 11.5 sacks last year. Under the leadership of Dexter Lawrence, the defensive line is poised for success. While there are challenges, particularly in the secondary following the leave of Xavier McKinney, the Giants are determined to overcome them. The team's resurgence to their 2022 form is inevitable, can this be the making of a return for the True Big Blue?

The Detroit Lions

Preseason Team Preview

Detroit Lions NFL

Get ready for an electrifying 2024 season with the Detroit Lions! After their phenomenal 12-5 record last year, including clinching the NFC North title for the first time in nearly three decades, the team is more determined than ever. Even though they missed out on the NFC Championship, losing 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers, they are back with a vengeance! Jared Goff, is the $212 million man, is back to lead the charge, is he ready to showcase his skills behind one of the NFL's top offensive lines? And let's not forget the dynamic running back duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. I'm expecting Gibbs to be gearing up for an even more explosive season after his impressive performance in the previous year. The Lions are roaring and ready to dominate the gridiron!

During the offseason, Amon-Ra St. Brown inked a lucrative contract, establishing his value, while Jameson Williams has yet to prove himself as a reliable option at the Lions' #2 wide receiver position. On the other hand, Sam LaPorta has displayed immense promise as a tight end and is poised to become a primary target for Goff in the upcoming season. The Lions decisively tackled their defensive vulnerabilities in pass coverage by acquiring Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, and Carlton Davis. The additions of D.J. Reader and Marcus Davenport fortify the defensive line and bolster the pass rush, complementing Aidan Hutchinson's impressive performance of 11.5 sacks in his second season. Jack Campbell, Alex Anzalone, and Derrick Barnes are set to play pivotal roles in Detroit's linebacker corps this season, solidifying the team's defensive strength. We can expect some good things from the Lions this season in my opinion.

The Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants

Preseason Game prediction

The Pick : NY Giants -2.5 Alt Line -143

I'm not confidently betting any Preseason game in any sport, but I do favor the Giants in this situation. While the Lions may seem like the stronger team on paper, preseason football is all about digging into roster depth and finding players that are playing for positions. Starters typically see limited action during these games. The Lions roster appears to be pretty lopsided, with a pretty strong top but Very questionable depth. On the other hand, the Giants hold a more competitive internal environment that will push players to do their best. I expect New York to bring a more focused approach, which is why my support and money has be on the Giants.
