With preseason football just around the corner, it's a perfect time to dive into some NFL Future Odds! Here at The Outlet Sports Ventures we have done a Futures Article for Every NFL Division and in this one we preview the 2024 AFC West Division, covering all the essential information about the division and each team!
For a long period of time, the Chiefs have been the dominant force in this division. They have emerged victorious every year since 2016 and show no signs of slowing down. Over the last 15 years, either Kansas City or Denver has claimed the top spot in this division, with the Chargers being the most recent winners in 2009, and the Raiders in 2002. This Division has some work to be done, but it wont be all Arrowhead as the masses predict, or will it?

Previews & Future Predictions
Los Angeles Chargers (+365) 2023 5-12 |
Prediction 2024 9-8 | Get Wild Card Seed +300
AFC West Position in 2023-24: 4th
Key Players In: Hayden Hurst (TE), Gus Edwards (RB), Denzel Perryman (LB)
Key Players Out: Mike Williams (WR), Keenan Allen (WR)
Head Coach: Jim Harbaugh
Last season, the Chargers finished with a 5-12 record, placing them at the bottom of the AFC West. They ranked beyond the 20th position in the league in rushing yards, scoring, and points against. they are looking for a transformation for sure this season, the team made a significant move by hiring Jim Harbaugh, the former head coach of Michigan. Harbaugh had prior coaching experience in the NFL with San Francisco from 2011 to 2014 and recently achieved a National Championship with Michigan. The Chargers also secured Justin Herbert with a substantial contract extension, demonstrating their commitment to their young quarterback. So my only question is, can Justin Herbert revive his career with Jim Harbaugh? I think we see a much better season with the changes and see the Chargers shock the world with a wild Card birth!
Las Vegas Raiders (+1100) 2023 8-9 |
Prediction 2024 4-13 | Season Wins Under 6.5 +110
AFC West Position in 2023-24: 2nd (8-9)
Key Players In: Christian Wilkins (DT), Harrison Bryant (TE), Alexander Mattison (RB)
Key Players Out: Jimmy Garoppolo (QB), Hunter Renfrow (WR), Josh Jacobs (RB), Amik Robertson (CB)
Head Coach: Antonio Pierce
I'm going to be extremely blunt with this take and Raiders fans might not like this part of the article, but what is there to appreciate about the Las Vegas Raiders? I am completely puzzled by the team's offseason moves. The quarterback position will likely be filled by Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell, as the Raiders failed to secure any of the six first-round quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. They made an expensive acquisition in DT Christian Wilkins during free agency, resulting in a roster that is heavily reliant on top-tier players.
It is extremely challenging to determine the Raiders strategy for this offseason, as the newly-appointed GM Tom Telesco appeared to navigate through it blindly in 2024. It appears that the Raiders will face difficulties in winning games and are likely to have an early pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With the absence of a franchise QB and other existing problems, Sure Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers are a deadly WR duo but who is making the passes to them? No QB no WR! So it seems that they are headed for a tough year and wont get more then six wins in my opinion.

Denver Broncos (+1900) 2023 8-9 |
Prediction 2024 9-8 | Season Wins Over 5.5 +110
AFC West Position in 2023-24: 3rd (8-9)
Key Players In: Zach Wilson (QB), Bo Nix (QB), Josh Reynolds (WR), Brandon Jones (S)
Key Players Out: Russell Wilson (QB), Justin Simmons (S), Jerry Jeudy (WR), Lloyd Cushenberry (C), Josey Jewell (LB)
Head Coach: Sean Payton
Last year, the Denver Broncos placed 3rd in the AFC West with an 8-9 record and just simply struggled, in terms of statistics it was nasty work with numbers on paper. They ranked 19th in the NFL in scoring and 27th in points against, giving up more than 24 points per game while scoring only 21. During this offseason, the Broncos gave Russell Wilson the duces and brought in a former 2nd overall pick along with drafting a quarterback with the 12th pick, leaving their quarterback situation highly uncertain and leaving us with a lot of unanswered questions.
I can tell you the quarterback group in Denver is Jarrett Stidham, Bo Nix, who was the 12th overall pick, and Zach Wilson. While they are currently ranked in that sequence on the depth chart, it remains uncertain who will start in Week 1. The team did acquire Josh Reynolds as a fast wide receiver, but their offensive arsenal is otherwise in better terms simply lacking. On the defensive side, Denver let go of Safety Justin Simmons without replacing him. This upcoming season could prove to be quite challenging for the Broncos. But i do see a bit of a bright light with Courtland Sutton as WR1 for this Broncos offense. If they can strike gold with the QB situation we could see good game come out of Denver! Very high hopes and shooting for the moon on this one, so play it safe.
Kansas City Chiefs (-330) 2023 11-6 |
Prediction 2024 12-5 | AFC #1 SEED +400
AFC West Position in 2023-24: 1st (11-6)
Key Players In: Marquise Brown (WR), Irv Smith Jr. (TE), Xavier Worthy (WR)
Key Players Out:Â Donovan Smith (OT)
Head Coach:Â Andy Reid
I won't sugarcoat it, but despite what you may think, the Chiefs have been in a rebuilding phase for the past two seasons. Patrick Mahomes received little support from his receivers last year, we seen them consistently miss on point lasers in crucial situations. The thing that shocked me the most was Travis Kelce and how well he played under all the pressure and expectations. Kelce continued to get better each game, and the Chiefs defense stepped up big also, leading the team to an 11-6 record. The Chiefs clinched their 8th consecutive AFC West title and secured their 2nd consecutive Super Bowl victory.
this team is even more dangerous after picking up Hollywood Brown ad selecting WR Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs have put a turbo boost in speed in their WR group. Along with Rashee Rice and Kelce in the field, opposing defenses will face a challenging task in keeping pace. Being the -250 favorite to clinch the division title speaks volumes but holds no value to us bettors. It indicates that Kansas City is poised to assert its dominance once more in the relatively weak AFC West.
The Broncos lack a QB, the Raiders have a new head coach and very questionable QB situation, and the Chargers have a new head coach with some wide receiver issues. The Chiefs are expected to dominate this division, conference and a One Seed is not a far stretch at all for this roster!
