Offensive and Defensive Previews (Playoffs)

  • The Edmonton Oilers have SCORED 3.83 GPG this playoffs, 2nd most among all 16 Playoff teams.

  • The Dallas Stars have SCORED 2.92 GPG this playoffs, 7th most among all 16 Playoff teams.

  • The Edmonton Oilers have ALLOWED 2.75 GPG this playoffs, 9th most among all playoff teams.

  • The Dallas Stars have ALLOWED 2.38 GPG this playoffs, 13th most among all playoff teams.

Edmonton Oilers Team Preview

The Edmonton Oilers have had a motto all season long. "Cup Or Bust". This is the year that majority of their players are in their prime years and are hands down my favorite team to watch in the National Hockey League. The Edmonton Oilers managed to get out of a 3-2 series deficit against the Vancouver Canucks to sweep the series from under their feet in a Game 7 where it took the Canucks 50 minutes to score a goal, the game ended with a score of 3-2. The team has had 2 days rest and had to travel from Vancouver to Dallas for Game 1. Leon Draisaitl is the point leader for this Edmonton team with 24 Pts in 12 GP. Averaging 2 PPG through 2 playoff series is no easy feat. Evan Bouchard is another player to watch for the Oilers who is the best defensemen in the playoffs. Bouchard has 20 Pts this playoffs and has a team best +/- of +10. The top 6 for the Edmonton Oilers are way better then average and it will be up too the bottom 6 to contribute in order to find additional success in this series.

Dallas Stars Team Preview

The Dallas Stars definitely have found a lot of success in the playoffs winning against the Goldenknights in 7, then the Colorado Avalanche in 6 games. Big injury for the Dallas Stars is being down top forward Roope Hintz with a upper-body injury. The forward lines for the Dallas Stars are quite deep, despite being without Hintz. Having both Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin on the 3rd line is quite impressive. The one thing that concerns me with this Dallas Stars team is the young forwards leading the team. The top forward line consists of Wyatt Johnston (21), Logan Stankoven (21), and Jason Robertson (24). Playoff experience on this team is very thin for the top producers and the deeper into the playoffs you go, the more difficult it gets without having any playoff experience. Time and time again you see teams struggle when they do not have experience. Something to note is Dallas lost game 1 of both series by a final score of 4-3. They have been mildly inconsistent at HOME going 1-2 against Colorado at Home...

EDMONTON OILERS VS. DALLAS STARS GAME PREDICTION

ChaseTheLock's Prediction: Oilers Moneyline (+110)

This is no bet that a Dallas Star fan wants to see. I really enjoy seeing this number at + money. Seems like a weird funk that Dallas plays during game 1 causing them to go down 1-0 in both series they have played in. Not only that, it is the traditional rest vs. rust scenario. The ideal scenario is that you have less rest when playing against a team like Dallas that could have some early rust since they have not played since May 17th. Edmonton have been figuring out how to get the bottom 6 forwards involved and believe that a goal from the bottom 6 a game could be the series decider when it comes down to it. The Oilers are offensive juggernauts, Dallas plays a slower game offensively... Will be interesting to see how game 1 goes tonight!
