Game 1 Takeaways & Recap
The Edmonton Oilers dropped game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final in Sunrise, FL with a final score of 3-0. Eetu Luostarinen put a 2nd nail in the coffin scoring an empty net goal with just under 5 seconds remaining in the game. This game was a good one, who had the advantage in my opinion? Well to break it down... Sergei Bobrovsky stood on his noggin all night long making 32 saves on all the 32 shots he faced on goal. This gave the Florida Panthers the confidence they needed in the Stanley Cup Opener. Calm the nerves for the guys that have not been there before, and boost the level of play for those that had been there just the year prior for Florida. The only downside to this? The only way Bobrovsky can trend is downward. I mean yes he could get a shutout again in game 2, but I do not believe that for a second. The Edmonton Oilers had a game that they really can not be upset with - outshooting the Florida Panthers who shoot the most among any team at home 32-18. All playoffs I have enjoyed the Stuart Skinner slander, but this just is not the case anymore. The two goals that Stuart Skinner allowed were not his fault but rather incredible opportunities offensively. The first goal came off of an odd man rush 3-2 cross-crease pass for an easy tap-in from Carter Verhaeghe. The 2nd goal came from an awkward bounce off the boards to Sam Bennett who had an easy quick feed to the slot where Evan Rodrigues glided in and tucked it away past Skinner. These two goals would have been really difficult for any goalie to make and in no shape or form does this game have blood on the hands of Stuart Skinner. Overall, I would say that despite the end score: The Edmonton Oilers have the momentum and advantage going into game 2. I expect the top dawgs for this Oilers team to get going, this all starts with captain McDavid who had 6 SOG in the loss. I expect them to figure things out on the offensive front.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers Game 2 Prediction

ChaseTheLock Prediction: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (+114) 1u
ChaseTheLock Record: 4-3-1 (+0.75u)
As you can see above, I liked what I saw out of the Oilers. Teams like the Edmonton Oilers do NOT go down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Final, there is simply no way. The Oilers have had a motto all year long... Cup OR Bust! This team wants the Cup and if they fail to win in game 2 then their odds to win the Stanley Cup Final from a historical perspective is only 9.4%. Not a lot of teams have been able to come back down from 2-0 to win the Stanley Cup and I just know how bad this team wants it. The Edmonton Oilers truly had the better game overall in game 1. The Florida Panthers struggled to get comfortable and play the way that the Florida Panthers traditionally play. The Edmonton Oilers did just about everything right, besides putting the puck in the back of the net. I will sound super repetitive here but let me repeat myself: Sergei Bobrovsky will get cracked. When he does tomorrow, come back to this and say thank you. There is just no way this guy continues to stand on his head, especially after only a day in between games, the guy had to work his tail off. I despise Paul Marice, I despise Sam Bennett, I despise just about everyone on this Florida Panthers roster. Let's get a win Oil. If you love these articles...
