With a full slate of games on the horizon, Week 2 of the college football season offers plenty of opportunities for savvy bettors. After a deep dive into the latest lines, team performance metrics, and expert analysis, here are the top picks for College Football Saturday. And for all of your NFL and college football picks, props, and bets all year long, Outlet Sports Ventures is the number one place to go.
Michigan Wolverines at Oklahoma Sooners

My Pick: Oklahoma Sooners -5.5
Odds: -110
Book: DraftKings
This is the marquee matchup of Week 2, featuring two of college football's winningest programs. The line has seen significant movement, with Oklahoma opening as a 1.5-point favorite and now sitting at -5.5. This shift reflects the confidence in the Sooners, especially playing at home.
Oklahoma's defense is a force, ranking 13th nationally in sack rate last year and excelling against the run. This will be a major test for Michigan's true freshman quarterback, Bryce Underwood, in his first hostile road environment. While Underwood looked poised in Week 1, Oklahoma's "Sooner Magic" home crowd can be deafening and disruptive. On the other side, Oklahoma's experienced quarterback, John Mateer, showed off his arm talent with nearly 400 passing yards in Week 1 and has a history of strong rushing performances, which could exploit Michigan's defense.
Arizona State Sun Devils at Mississippi State Bulldogs

My Pick: Mississippi State Bulldogs +6.5
Odds: -105
Book: FanDuel
This game presents a compelling underdog opportunity, with a model strongly backing Mississippi State to cover the spread at home. Arizona State has a poor historical record against SEC opponents on the road, going 0-2 all-time and 1-6 overall against the conference.
In Week 1, Mississippi State covered against a solid Southern Miss team, while Arizona State struggled to cover a large spread against an FCS opponent, Northern Arizona.
A key factor is the departure of Cam Skattebo, who was crucial for ASU last season and is now in the NFL. Mississippi State's run defense has also shown significant improvement. The Bulldogs have a history of stepping up in big games, covering in four straight contests against ranked teams.
UConn Huskies at
Syracuse Orange

My Pick: Syracuse Orange -6.5
Odds: -115
Book: ESPN BET
The model is heavily favoring Syracuse to cover this spread, projecting them to do so in almost 60% of simulations. Syracuse has dominated this rivalry recently, winning the last five meetings against UConn. In their last four matchups since 2016, the Orange have won by an average margin of 19.5 points.
UConn's quarterback, Joe Fagnano, has yet to secure a road win against a Power 4 team in his collegiate career. Conversely, Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli has an impressive home record with five touchdowns and zero interceptions. UConn's defense also showed a significant vulnerability on the road last season, giving up 311.4 passing yards per game compared to 161.1 at home. Despite some offseason production losses for Syracuse, their historical performance and the model's confidence make them a strong pick.
Army Black Knights at Kansas State Wildcats

My Pick: Kansas State Wildcats -16.5
Odds: -125
Book: ESPN BET
A well known Vegas “expert”, Casale, is backing Kansas State to cover against Army, so I’m automatically leaning towards Army. We also know that Kansas State had a shaky start to their season, narrowly escaping with a win against North Dakota in Week 1 and losing to Iowa State in Week 0, so I think their stock might be undervalued right now!
Army, on the other hand, suffered a surprising loss to FCS Tarleton State in Week 1 and is not considered to be as strong as their 2024 team that made a playoff push. Casale believes the current line for Kansas State is not high enough given Army's struggles. Despite KSU's early season hiccups, playing at home against an Army team that appears to be in decline provides a good opportunity for them to secure a decisive victory and cover the spread.
