Starting Pitcher Matchup
The Boston Red Sox are coming out with their debatable ace in Tanner Houck. Tanner Houck has been on a downwards dive however in his last 4 starts allowing 14 ER and allowing 27 hits... Not exactly a pretty statline for an All-Star starting pitcher. Tanner Houck just recently saw this Texas Rangers lineup on August 3rd, allowing 8 hits as well as 6 ER in 5IP. Despite this disastrous start, in 54 career PA the Rangers are only batting .229 with an xBA of .192 and a xwOBA of .271. On the other side of the bump we expect to see a majority bullpen game with it being undecided who is to come out exactly! ESPN.COM has Dane Dunning as the projected starter coming out of the bullpen but no real answer on that quite yet (10:51pm EST).

The Texas Rangers have been in a very detrimental slump since returning from the All-Star Break with a .225 batting average after the break and a .225 BA in the month of August as well. Not being able to get a win in either of these first two games will definitely put them into a tough position to secure a win in the 3rd and final game of the season series. The Texas Rangers are 3-7 in their L10. The Boston Red Sox lead the season series against the Texas Rangers 4-1 and have scored 7.2 runs per game on average. Post All-Star Break the Red Sox are slugging for a .282 batting average and an impressive .350 OBP along with it. In the last 10 games, the Boston Red Sox are only consoling a 5-5 record... However despite this, the Red Sox still have WON 4 of the last 5 series they have played in and are surging at just the right time as they make a big push for the AL Wild Card Spot. With tonights loss against the Twins, the Royals now only hold a 1 game lead for the Wild Card ahead of the Boston Red Sox.
MY PREDICTION
No doubt about it that this Boston Red Sox team has been here to play recently. I do not think this changes in the series finale with no "ace" being on the mound and Jarren Duran will be returning to the lineup after serving his two game suspension. Duran will make a big difference to this already hot Boston Red Sox lineup. Not to mention, with Houck's struggles as well as the weak Boston Red Sox bullpen, I expect runs to come early and often. The books are setting this line at a 9.5 and I see this going over with ease!
